Have you receive your 2018 enrollment letter from Optima?

As one of our Optima ON Marketplace clients, there are many things we wanted to share with you as we go into open enrollment period.

As you know, the Individual Marketplace has become extremely volatile during the past few years. At this time, Optima Health remains the only insurance carrier to offer individual coverage beginning in Jan. 2018. You will be receiving a letter shortly notifying you of the product with which you will be enrolled for the upcoming year, along with your new premium.

It is imperative that you go online and update your information in order to get correct information regarding your continued enrollment. Remember, please make sure Amanda’s NPN number remains (5700164) in order for her to be able to assist you throughout the year. You may have also heard that the federal government is no longer paying the “subsidies” for Obamacare coverage. Let me assure you that the subsidies, correctly called the Premium Tax Credits will continue. This is what offsets your premium, thus making it more affordable for you and your family.

The other type of “subsidy” that the government has been paying is the cost for “Cost Share Reductions”. If you make less than 250% of the federal poverty level, you qualify for a silver plan that has a decreased maximum out of pocket cost expense, and reduced co-insurances, and co-pays. These costs will now be paid by the insurance company rather than the Federal Government, as it was found to be unlawful, since Congress never approved the appropriation of those funds.

Final premiums will not be available until shortly before November 1st, so we will be unable to assist prior to Nov. 1st.  At that time, if you feel you need guidance, please email Amanda Banner at abanner@colonycares.com to see how she can help you!
