Have you receive your termination letter from Anthem?

As one of our Anthem Health Keepers clients, we wanted to let you know some additional details and facts regarding the upcoming year. At this time, I would assume that most of you will have received your letter indicating your insurance coverage will terminate on December 31st.  They will no longer be participating either on OR off the Marketplace effective 1-1-2018.  Between Nov. 1st and Dec. 15th, you will need to review your options and consider avenues for continuing health insurance coverage.

Some options include:

  1. Looking at Individual coverage through Optima Health.  These premiums will be significantly higher for 2018, as all other insurance providers have declined to continue their participation in this part of Virginia.
  2. Review possibility of enrolling in a spouse’s group health plan.  Most group plans are deducted from payroll on a  pre-tax basis, and that could reduce healthcare expense.
  3. If you or your spouse work at a company that does not currently offer health insurance coverage, this may be the perfect time for them to look into that option again.  Rules for implementing a group health insurance plan are dramatically reduced for the “Special Election Period” of January 1st.
  4. If you own a small business, we will be able to evaluate your particular situation to see if implementing a small group health policy is right for you.  Again the “Special Election Period” of Jan 1st make the possibility of having group health insurance an attractive option to investigate.
