As one of our Anthem On Marketplace Healthkeepers clients, we want to share some additional information with you as we get ready to enter the open enrollment period for 2018. You have more than likely received your letter and cancellation notice from Anthem at this time. They will no longer be participating in the Individual market effective 1-1-2018.
You may have also heard that the federal government is no longer paying the “subsidies” for Obamacare coverage. Let me assure you that the subsidies, correctly called the Premium Tax Credits, will continue. This is what offsets your premium, thus making it more affordable for you and your family.
The other type of “subsidy” that the government has been paying is the cost for “Cost Share Reductions”. If you make less than 250% of the federal poverty level, you qualify for a silver plan that has a decreased maximum out of pocket cost, and reduced co-insurances, and co-pays. These costs will now be paid by the insurance company rather than the Federal Government, as it was found to be unlawful since Congress never approved the appropriation of those funds.
Beginning Nov. 1st through Dec. 15th, you will need to review options you will have available to you through Optima Health. They will be the ONLY insurance carrier available in our area. It is our understanding that the marketplace will be directing you to the most comparable Optima Health plan. However, you will still have the ability to choose any of the plans they offer.
It is imperative that you go online to Marketplace.gov and update your information shortly after November 1st. If this information is not updated, you could receive incorrect pricing for your new policy, an possibly incur additional premium costs.
Final premiums will not be available until shortly before November 1st, so we will be unable to assist prior to Nov. 1st. At that time, if you feel you need guidance, please email Amanda Banner at email@example.com to see how she can help you!
